Art. Vintage vehicles. Work writings. Me.
Welcome to girasa.com. Looking back, I probably should have registered roygirasa.com instead but I wanted to have the domain of my Sicilian surname. So here we are.
Within this site, you will see a bit about who I am beyond my busy life as a husband and father. Much of the art was done in the past ten years or so, though I am on hiatus as a result of Tab 2: Vehicles. I am currently finding my way through various wish list projects and posted a a few of my current running, non-running, and future projects. And maybe the next vehicles in my search. I am finding the more I work on them, the better I am actually becoming. Maybe in my next life, I will focus on being a vintage mechanic. I think when I reach 65 I will be ready!
My work writings are a simple result of needing to show an online portfolio of a selection of work I have produced in my marketing career.
Thank you for stopping by!

Vintage cars. Vintage scooters. Vintage travel trailers. A lousy obsession!

Vintage vehicles of all shapes, sizes, and uses
In the 1970s I noticed a car I really liked at the end of my street in NY. I found out later it was an early Ford Mustang. Ten years later, I owned an early Mustang Fastback I bought from the original owner (my friend’s mom). Since then, I have had about two dozen vintage cars leave oil on my driveway. My current project is a 1959 Volkswagen Beetle I have owned for more than 25 years. It will get done! As you can see by the picture above, it needs some tender care.
But it’s not just vintage cars or bikes. My spring, summer, and fall seasons are spent camping in my 1967 Aladdin travel trailer. At 16 feet, it is big enough. Who needs hot water, shower, tv, microwave, or even heat. It is camping. And it has a roof where I can cook inside when it is raining outside. My best purchase ever.
I will post my other projects as I cycle through them.
Art
Watercolors. Ink Washes. Occasionally pen and ink.

Dried paint, old plate and mug, quality paper, and a handful of very used brushes.
My two favorite subjects to paint are people and cars (with people it seem). I tend to work mainly with black India ink and water and lay many thin washes. Occasionally I miss color and will pull out the watercolors, though often the tubes have dried up.
Occasionally a different topic will slip in. A blueberry bird for my daughter. A toy car painted from one of my vintage toys for a new born gift. A scene from Italy or Spain.
Family.

Nothing is more important.
(and why my projects take much longer than pre-pophood.
